Original Acrylic Paintings
I have been painting since the age of 8 and began selling my work at 16 as the youngest member of the Firebird Art Group in Arizona. After 30 years working in State Government I was able to retire at the age of 49 and return to painting again. I am currently the President of the Westbrook Village Fine Arts Association in Peoria, AZ, and also a juried member of Vanguard and the Arizona Art Alliance.
I primarily paint using acrylics, but on occasion have used pastels, watercolor, oils and pencil to produce my art work. The choice of medium and my approach is based on the subject matter and inspiration produced by the photograph(s) I will be working from. My style is "representational" i.e. very realistic. Although I have tried abstract painting, it is not how my brain works!
I am inspired by the beauty found in my travels locally, nationally and abroad. Travels to Italy and Africa provided me with an abundance of unique reference material for my paintings. All of my art work is produced from my own photographs. I love painting old rusty barns, mailboxes, cars and farm equipment. The desert in Arizona provides a plethora of floral and fauna shots used in my paintings.
