Art By Barb Hurley

About the Artist

As the youngest member of the Firebird Artist Association, I began painting and selling my work at age 16 at local art shows in Arizona. I am primarily self-taught with a minor in Fine Arts from Glendale Community College and a Business & Finance Degree from the University of Phoenix. My career was in state government spanning 31 years and in the latter years, I did not have much of a chance to paint. Fortunately I was able to retire in 2003 and began painting again.

I am currently the Vice President and Program Coordinator for the Westbrook Village Fine Arts Association in Peoria. I also belong to the Wickenburg Art Club, the Vanguard Artist critique group and am juried with the Arizona Art Alliance.
I am inspired to paint from the photographs I take during my travels locally and abroad and have been fortunate to have traveled many places in the US, Europe and Africa too.

Over the past 10 years I have received over 25 awards (Best of Show, 1st, 2nd & 3rd place ribbons, in addition to Merit Recognition and cash awards), while participating in local Arizona shows.
